Ah!!!! I lost my notes of the first meeting of the Green Thumbs and Greenhorns Garden Club! I should have known it was going to happen. I need to get, or make myself, a special note book just for the garden club meetings.

We had our second meeting this past Sunday afternoon. Once again there were ten of us, though a different ten, that gathered. There were some of the same people, but some new ones too. Some of the ones that had been at the first meeting were out of town so they couldn't make it to this meeting. Some people were a little disappointed at what they considered a low turnout but I thought it was great! It was a long weekend and a lot of people were out of town. Those of us that were there had a great time learning and laughing together.

I wrote a short write-up about the meeting for the Green Thumbs and Greenhorns column in the Nor'Wester. This is a column I started in our local newspaper last year but I experienced some difficulties that brought my writing to a halt early last year. In the last column that I wrote, back in June, I asked people to share their gardens with me and I would write about them. Well, I experienced major vehicle troubles shortly after that and had no way to get around to the people that had invited me to their gardens. I was very disappointed and rather than pull up my boots and do what I could, I decided to crawl in a corner and sulk. Silly me! Anyway, Jim, and others, suggested that I look into starting the column again now as it may probably generate interest in the gardening club. I called the newspaper editor and he graciously agreed that he'd be glad if I gave it another try. Today marked the first column post for this year. You can read it here.

Of course, there was lots more talked about at the meeting than what I included in the column. I'll share a little more about some other things that were discussed there another day. Right now I've run out of time for today.

Happy gardening!
